Vishay Intertechnology has announced the launch of four new electronic fuses in small 3 mm x 3 mm TDFN packages with adjustable current Limit and overvoltage Protection (OVP) features -SiP32433A/B and SiP32434A/B. 3.5 A SiP32433A/B and 6 A SiP32434A/B operate in the input voltage range of 2.8V to 23 V -- up to 28 VIN DC -- integrating multiple control and protection functions, simplifying the design and reducing the need for external components

Application Circuit

Vishay Siliconix Single Channel Load Switch has a wide input voltage range and can be used in a wide range of designs. The operating voltage of most competitive products on the market is only 18 V, or lack of low-end voltage. Devices for industrial and medical equipment, robotics, consumer products, home automation systems and game consoles provide precise control and rapid failure response, enhancing system design safety and reliability. When an application is shut down due to a latch fault, SiP32433A and SiP32434A turn off the power switch, and SiP32433B and SiP32434B automatically retry when the preset time is reached.

All four devices provide a fast short-circuit response and enable precise overcurrent protection (OCP) when a preset current limit is reached without increasing the current margin -- an important feature of power bus multi-load design. Competing solutions usually require more than 30% current margin. SiP32433A and SiP32433B support active reverse current blocking and are suitable for USB Type-C and multi-power switching applications.

The load switch on-resistance is 43% lower than the previous generation solution, which translates to a 32% increase in current flow or higher efficiency at the same current level. The 78mW SiP32433A/B current limit is set from 0.3 A to 3.5 A, and the 33mW SiP32434A/B current limit is set from 0.5A to 6A. These devices achieve ± 8 % accuracy in current limits, increasing design flexibility and simplifying bill of Materials (BOM). The hot-swap load switch has programmable on-off rates, ESD tolerance of 2Kv (human body model) and 0.75Kv (live equipment model), and operating temperatures from -40 °C to +125 °C.
