Bosch Sensortec has released the BMP581, which has extremely low power consumption and high accuracy to provide altitude tracking in wearables, audible devices or iot devices. This feature makes it great for health tracking, fall detection, indoor positioning and navigation, enabling new use cases that were previously impossible. It's also a pressure sensor

Dr. Stefan Finkbeiner, CEO of Bosch Sensortec  said:"Based on the excellent performance and low power consumption of previous Bosch sensor generations, our new BMP581 now offers a whole new level of precision,"  "It is surprisingly accurate: it measures air pressure fluctuations. , equivalent to one thousandth (7.6 micrograms) of the weight of a mosquito."

This extreme accuracy allows the sensor to detect height changes of only a few centimeters. As a result, it can monitor fitness app movement to the level of personal pull-ups or push-ups, and provide highly accurate location information for indoor positioning, navigation, and floor detection, providing critical data for emergency calling needs.

The sensor provides excellent relative accuracy of +/-0.06hPa and typical absolute accuracy of +/-0.3hPa. It has typical TCO noise of only +/-0.5Pa/K and low RMS noise of 0.08Pa @ 1000hPa(typical). The 12-month long term drift is only +/ - 0.1hPa. And provides full accuracy in a wide measurement range from 300hPa to 1100hPa.

The sensor can improve the flight stability and landing accuracy of drones, and help household appliances detect water levels to avoid flooding.Compared with the previous generation of pressure sensor BMP390, it reduces current by 85%, noise by 80% and TCO by 33%.

The sensor provides I2C, I3C and SPI(3 wire /4 wire) digital serial interfaces. Typical 1Hz current consumption is only 1.3μA, greatly extending battery life, while deep standby mode is only 0.5 μA.the sensor comes in a compact 10-pin LGA package shielded by a metal hood and measures only 2mm x 2mm x 0.75mm3.
