Binder released the 823 and 824 series cable connectors for the North American continent. They meet the requirements of the industry-relevant degree of protection IP67, i.e. they are created to be dust-proof and protected against temporary submersion. . The K and L coded M12 products are specifically targeted for power applications and feature screw clamp terminals.

DC miniature drives, decentralized I/O modules and various other DC powered automation components connected to fieldbus systems are target applications for the same L-coded five-pin connectors. The rated voltage can reach 63VDC and the rated current can reach 16A. And the K code indicates that the five-pin connector is ideal for power supplies for AC applications, including drives or inverters up to 630VAC and up to 12A.

The electrical and mechanical interfaces of control cabinets in North America must meet UL 2237 and UL 2238 standards. UL 2238 specifies cable assemblies and connectors for signal transmission, and UL 2237 sets further conditions for power segments, such as power supplies in drives. It includes specifications for testing connectors, cables and cable joints, and safety components.

The product range includes male and female cables and angle connectors with M12x1 threads, 8mm to 13mm cable outlets and screw clamp terminals. To meet the requirements of UL 2237, the threaded ring is electrically connected to the PE contacts. Rated voltage 630VAC, rated current 12A (k-coded; pin count 4+PE) and 63VDC at 16A (l-coded; pin count 4+FE - functional ground)
