ProTek Devices has released a hybrid semiconductor technology, the company's first circuit protection technology for common industrial and household applications such as power adapters, industrial automation controls, home appliances, smart meters and other critical applications. New patent-pending technology makes the new device an excellent alternative to high-end surface mount MOVs.

Its latest hybrid TV components have several unique advantages. They provide a more robust product with a smaller form factor and do not use the wear mechanisms present in gdd and move. The new components, the PHYTVSxxxV3 and phytvsxxx4 series provide a reliable solution for overvoltages where lower clamping voltages are required. Each series is created from three components.

This series of products complies with IEC standard 61000-4-5 (surge). However, PHYTVSxxxV3 is class L-L 2,500V 1.2/50µs - Req = 2-ohm, or 250A 8/20µs, PHYTVSxxxV4 is class 3, 1kV 1.2/50µs - Req = 2-ohm, or 500A 8/ 20 microseconds. Both provide bidirectional operation for 50/60/400Hz AC lines. Other mechanical properties include lead-free tin matte plating for PHYTVSxxxV3 and lead-free silver plating for phytvsxxx4. Solder reflow temperature is (260-270C, 10 seconds). Finally, these series have a flammability rating of UL 94V-0. The PHYTVSxxxV3 and V4 series also meet and exceed IEC 61000-4-2 (ESD): Class 4 Air +/-15kV, Contact +/-8kV, and IEC 61000-4-4 (EFT): 40A.
