Maxim's MAX98390 is an efficient single class d DSM intelligent amplifier with integrated boost converter, integrated DSM and FET calibration functions to achieve higher efficiency at low output power. The maximum boost converter output voltage can be programmed from 6.5 V to 10 V, from the battery voltage down to 2.65 V in 0.125 V increments. The boost converter supports bypass mode to reduce quiescent current and improve medium power efficiency, as well as envelope tracking to automatically adjust the output voltage for maximum efficiency. The lifted power supply can provide 6.2 W to 4 ohm load at 10% THD+N.

Integrated IV sense and DSM allow louder, more complete audio while protecting the speakers from damage and improving sound quality. The PCM interface supports I (2) S, left aligned and 16 channel TDM formats as slave or master devices controlled by I (2) C. Both BCLK and MCLK can be used as internal clock sources to provide system level flexibility.

Thermal and other status data can also be read from the I (2) C interface. The patented active emission limiting edge rate and overshoot control circuits minimize electromagnetic interference, eliminating the need for output filtering in traditional class d devices. A flexible Weakening Detection Engine (BDE) can be programmed to activate various current limiting, signal limiting and clipping functions to prevent battery voltage drop. Thresholds, hysteresis, and attack release rates are programmable.
